Consultation before Mastopexy
The very first step you’ll need to take towards your breast lift will be a consultation with your surgeon. And the very first step your surgeon will take during this consultation will be a thorough exam to make sure you’re a good candidate for Mastopexy surgery. For women over 40, this exam will include mammography. The best patients for breast lift surgery should:
• Be over 18 years old.
• Have drooping breasts.
• Be in good physical and mental health.
• Not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Not be planning to become pregnant.
• Be at a stable weight with no more weight loss plans.
If you have just had a child, you’ll need to wait at least 6 months after you’ve given birth or stopped breastfeeding (whichever came later) before having a breast lift.
One of the things your surgeon will be trying to assess is whether a lift or augmentation with implants will better help you reach your goals. In general, if sagging is your only problem, you’ll proceed with the lift. If, on the other hand, you aren’t suffering from too much sagging, your surgeon may recommend implants alone. After a few months of recovery, you can then reassess, and decide if you still want a lift, too.
Two of the most common reasons women seek Mastopexy surgeries are pregnancy and weight loss. General aging is also a reason. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can contribute to breast sagging, so for this reason, we recommend that you wait to have a breast lift until you’ve finished having children. The procedure of breast lift won’t have any effect on your ability to get pregnant again, but future pregnancies can undo your results.
Similarly, massive weight loss can also leave you with sagging breasts. And just like with pregnancy, we recommend that you wait until you have met your weight loss goal before undergoing a Mastopexy More weight loss after the surgery can have a negative impact on your results.
During your consultation, your surgeon will also discuss all the risks that go along with the breast lift procedure. Although this is a very safe operation, every surgery has its risks, and you should be aware of them before going forward. Most of the risks that go along with this procedure involve the small chance of infection or poor results. That being said, it’s important to point out that there is also a small risk of numbness in the breasts, and some trouble with breastfeeding following the procedure, although these complications are very rare.
Expected Results
A breast lift will leave you with noticeably firmer, younger-looking, and perkier breasts. You’ll probably see an immediate improvement to your figure as soon as you’re out of surgery, but the real, full results can take a few months to be completely revealed. The swelling will slowly fade over several weeks, eventually showing off your new breast shape. The results of your breast lift can last for decades to come, though the exact time frame with being different for each unique patient.
Unfortunately, nothing can stop the inevitable effects of aging and gravity, but there are a few things you can do to help make sure your results last. Try to maintain a healthy weight. Large changes in body weight will stretch your skin and damage your results. Secondly, take care of your skin. This means using moisturizer and sunscreen, and staying out of direct sunlight whenever possible.
Recovery after Mastopexy
The recovery phase that comes after a breast lift will be a little different for every patient. Exactly how long your healing will take will depend on the extent of your surgery, your own body’s natural healing process, and any additional procedures you had performed at the same time.
You can probably expect to return to sedentary work after about a week, but you’ll still need to stay away from any energetic physical activities for a while. You’ll need to take special care to avoid bending and lifting because they can put a strain on your chest and incisions, making your recovery more difficult and complicated. You’ll also need to wear a sports bra for the first 4 to 6 weeks. This acts as a compression garment to help control swelling while allowing you to heal into your new, more youthful shape.
In most cases, you’ll likely be able to go back to your normal exercise and activity levels after about 3 weeks or so, but you should always follow the advice of your surgeon. Take it slow at first, and work your way back up to your normal routine. Discomfort and pain are common at first and usually fades after a few weeks. Swelling can take up to a few months to completely disappear, but most of it will disappear in a month or two.
Scars are, unfortunately, unavoidable with a breast lift. The technique we use is called a “keyhole incision,” which means the incision is made around the nipple and extends to the bottom of the breast. This results in a vertical scar, also known as a lollipop scar. The appearance of these scars will fade over time, but they are permanent. You can minimize the appearance of scars by:
• Wearing your sports bra as directed by your surgeon.
• Avoiding smoking.
• Staying hydrated during and beyond recovery.
• Sticking to a healthy diet.
• Using silicone sheets, which we can provide you with.
• Gently massaging the scar.
Most of our patients say that the benefits they receive from the breast lift procedure far outweigh the negative appearance of scars. It is extremely rare for our patients to complain about their scars at all.

Mr. Mackay –
I’ve heard the argument that “lorem ipsum” is effective in wireframing or design because it helps people focus on the actual layout, or color scheme, or whatever. The entire structure of the page or app flow is FOR THE WORDS.
