About Sardar-e Kuchak Ab Anbar

This reservoir was built in 1881 by the Sardar brothers, Muhammad Hassan Khan and Muhammad Hossein Khan, who were the princes of Ali Shah and Muhammad Shah Qajar. To perpetuate their name in the history of Qazvin, these two brothers started building a complex including 2 water reservoirs, a school mosque and Garmabeh, all with the name of Sardar. The older brother builds Sardar Bozor Reservoir on the current Railway Street, and the younger brother builds the Little Sardar Reservoir in Qamlaq or Mughlawak neighborhood. Sardar Kochak Reservoir is located in the south of Qamlaq neighborhood and north of Akhund neighborhood, and due to the attribution to the younger brother, it has become famous as Sardar Kochoch Reservoir. Although in terms of capacity and extent of water intake, it is bigger not only from Sardar Bozor reservoir but also from all the reservoirs of Qazvin city.

Architecture of Sardar-e Kuchak Ab Anbar

The capacity of this water reservoir is 3800 cubic meters and like other water reservoirs, it has 36 entrance steps, 4 faucets, a tap way, a large water tank, 4 domes, each of which has holes for ventilation to keep the water clean. And it is a valve for cleaning water by mirab. When you go down the stairs, you can feel the difference in air temperature. The air inside the reservoir is much colder than the air outside. After finishing the stairs, there is a milky way, which was opened for public visits after the end of the operation of the reservoir, and from this path you can go inside the reservoir. The size of this reservoir has been a good expression of the hard work of the people of ancient times, how bitterly they built this reservoir in the past and then with what effort they used to take water. All the large water tank and four domes on it are placed on a big column. Its walls are also made of saroj to be more resistant to moisture.
