About Sagz-Abad ( Hill )

Segzabad Hill is one of the first sites that were explored during the series of archaeological researches of Tehran University in Qazvin Plain. The results of these studies indicate the existence of a continuous settlement from the end of the third millennium to the middle of the first millennium BC. However, during the recent excavations of the University of Tehran in October and November of 2017, the Segzabad hill was definitively dated. According to the obtained results, settlement of the area started around 1700 BC and the south of the hill contains settlement layers of the middle of the 4th millennium BC. During this exploration, it was found that the boundary between the two sites of Segezabad and the cemetery probably has settlement layers of the second half of the 4th millennium BC, which were buried by the large volume of sediments. Based on this, it is also possible that during the New Copper Age, the settlement of the cemetery hill was expanded to the east.
Objects were discovered in the ancient hill of Segzabad, Boyin Zahra, which led to the creation of a museum containing 86 pieces of objects, including terracotta vessels, arrowheads, and cylinder seals. Based on the artifacts discovered in this hill, including dishes, ornaments, and war tools related to the 2nd and 3rd Iron Age, archaeologists concluded that the discovered artifacts are related to the gifts that people gave to their dead bodies in ancient times and when they were buried underground. They put It should also be noted that some human remains were also discovered in these excavations, which were transferred to the Iranian Genetics Center for further investigation and studies.
