About Niyagh Stone Porch ( Qazvin )

The stone porch of Niag is located in the village of Niyagh, one of Qazvin’s districts, and it is considered one of the sights of Qazvin. This phenomenon includes a relatively high rock in which the passage of time and natural factors have created large holes like a porch. Rectangular ponds can be seen inside the holes, which are likely to have been dug by the old residents of this area. These ponds are filled with rainwater when it rains. Above the stone porch, traces of human habitation can be seen in the past, including clay structures and broken dishes.
There is a relatively high rock in the village of Niag of Qazvin, in the heart of which large holes have been created by natural factors. Inside some of these holes, rectangular ponds have been dug by possible residents. These ponds are filled with rainwater when it rains.
Local residents believe that Muhammad Hanafiyeh built a palace on top of this porch. Today, there is nothing left of this palace except the storage tanks for grains and beans.
This porch, which is also known by other names such as “Niyaq’s porch”, “Divayvan” and “Mohammed Hanafieh Arch”, has a natural and beautiful semi-arch with a height of about 10 meters, which makes it look much more beautiful.

Qazvin is one of the historical provinces of Iran, which has many historical monuments. They say that one of these attractions is the stone porch of Niag. Niag is a village 17 kilometers north of Qazvin, a mountain village that you have to enter the Qazvin-Zanjan highway to reach. On the west side of this village, a stone mountain can be seen, on which a relatively high stone wall has been formed, which extends to the east and creates a beautiful natural semi-arch. This 10-meter high wall has given a special charm to this area.
Stone Porch is one of those attractions that many stories are told about, and perhaps these legends and stories have made this place a famous attraction. According to the opinion of some residents, there was once a magnificent palace on this mountain, of which only pieces of clay remain today. When you look at this mountain from the front, you will see many holes on it that seem to be the faces of goblins and ghosts, maybe that is why it is also known as Divan Divan. Even some legends go further and say that goblins and demons go back into the holes at night and when the weather is dark. When the air is windy, the wind passing through the holes on the rock creates terrible sounds, which may be one of the reasons for attributing this point to demons and spirits.

If you plan to go to the top of the porch from the southern slope, it is good to know that this path is a bit difficult to walk. To climb to the upper parts and go inside the porch, it is better to use the northern part of the slope because it is less steep here. The best time to visit this attraction is in the spring because the good weather and great natural views make you experience a pleasant and memorable trip. When visiting this attraction, you can spend the night in this village and get to know the culture of the local people of this area. Since the weather in this mountain village is a bit cold, be sure to bring warm clothes. We suggest that you visit Qazvin during your trip to Niag village and visit the attractions of this historical and beautiful province.
