About Sardar mosque and school

Sardar Mosque and School is one of the most beautiful religious schools and places of interest in Qazvin, which is located at the end of Tabriz Street. According to the inscription on the head of the school, this building was built by two brothers named Hassan Khan and Hossein Khan Sardar, one of the emirs of Fath Ali Shah, in 1815. The mentioned mosque and school are artistic and architectural masterpieces of the Qajar period, which are worth visiting once.

Introducing Sardar Qazvin Mosque and School

Sardar Mosque and School is one of the most beautiful religious schools in Iran and one of the architectural masterpieces of the Qajar period. This mosque and school was built by two brothers named Hossein Khan and Hassan Khan, one of the generals of Fath Ali Shah Qajar, on two floors. However, in recent years, a lot of unkindness was done to these historical buildings and important parts of them were destroyed, especially the dome, which was restored and revived by the Cultural Heritage Organization.
Before entering the school, the entrance hall is attractive with beautiful decorations. The courtyard of the complex has also created a pleasant environment thanks to the beautiful and sturdy trees. There are cells around the yard that are used for students. There is a staircase on both sides of the yard that you can easily go to the upper floor and have a good view of the yard. Despite the fact that this mosque and school is used as a seminary, most tourists manage to visit the inside of the building.

Architecture of Sardar Qazvin School

Sardar’s rectangular school, which has an area of 1440 square meters, has a two-story building and a courtyard with a water pond. In the southern part of the school, there is a large moonlight, which is one meter higher than the floor of the courtyard, and is used for resting or performing tazee ceremony in the summer.
There are 32 cells in the eastern and western parts of the two earrings, which are connected to small porches; So that there is a madras (classroom) or a large cell in the middle and two narrow earrings on both sides of it.

Architecture of Sardar Qazvin Mosque

The Sardar Mosque is located in the southern part of the school yard and is connected to its big moonlight and has three brick arches. On top of the middle arch, which is larger than the other two arches, a small conical dome with turquoise tiles can be seen. On the top of the dome, there is a dome with a length of more than 1.20 and a width of 40 cm. The entrance of the mosque is located on the north side and leads to a wide vestibule and leads to two naves from both sides.

Sardar Qazvin school Decorations

The beautiful and magnificent head of the school is decorated with enamel tiles and patterns of flowers and plants, birds and slim lines. In addition, in this part of the school, there is a marble inscription written by Sheikh Muhammad Ali bin Sheikh Abdul Karim in Nastaliq Mumtaz script, which shows the history and the founder of the building.
Stone plinth, brickwork decorations and colorful tiles are only a part of the decorations of Sardar School. Among the other decorations of this historical school, we can mention the Nastaliq script in the throat part of the courtyard, which contains Mohtashem Kashani’s poems in white on purple tiles. The facades of the jars and their borders on the first floor are decorated with tiles, and the word Muhammad can be seen in the form of a geometric line.
A very large latticed wooden window, which is the result of knotting art, stands out in the southern arch of the school. Interestingly, the entrance to the mosque from the school is built in the heart of this window.

The interior of the mosque is quite simple, except for the tiling of the mihrab, and only on the roof part, using tiles and bricks, simple decorative decorations have been created. The entire large arch on the south side of the mosque is covered with wooden knots.
